Basil on the street by Laurence tells the story of a homeless man who has been on the street for two years in Toronto. He may be Native we do not know for sure. This 32 pages short story tells of the reality, social especially, of being what used to be called in the old days, a 'hobo'. This is based on my own experience as one, as a hobo, on the streets of Toronto for one month in September 2006. And the many Native people I have met there (and while at university previously too and after my homelessness life and in better health).
