The day comes down

like a bucket emptying itself

flooding the whole street

with light and breezes

The far away sound of cars

The occasional dog announcement

And the motorbike speeding in the distance

I unravel my words to you today

words fond of you, words filled with you

Grace, strength and resilience

the peaceful light of the day on your head

and my  hands open on your heart

listening to the tugging of your old ropes

being enchanted by your heartbeat ticking

and then, fitting nicely in your hand,

my hand opens and closes

like a flower eating an insect

you feed my soul and stomach

with dreams and stories of us

and for so many years

I have always come to you

and you to me

We have the world to live by

and isn't that a wonder?
