A great battle of the Che guevera happened there and there is his mausoleum. they derailed a train and won in santa clara. The first thing i saw with Hector's cab coming into santa clara was the psychiatric facility builidng, very nice from the outdoor, where Fidel had his mistress incarcaerated. I quickly asked God whther this was a bad omen to first building see being a mental health hospital at the entrance from the airport: it is an excellent hospital they all did not dare say. I quickly relaxed and trusted I would not go crazy alone in Cuba surrounded by what was obviously going to be: stranger men and angel men. I never took the cab in Santa Clara. they have rickshaws, horses, which I did not take as in a  carriage, but went horseback riding in trinidad. They also have cabs but I never hailed one in santa clara. Only in trinidad. Sancti spiritus is a lovely out of time town , sleepy as all heck and only rickshaws there or real decrepit taxi cars cabs.
