The tibetan sangha tradition is impressive. It is so deep in the culture. Most familie traditional have a monk or a nun in their siblings or children. Poverty may explain also as well as beliefs.

but the children I saw at a nunnery where I taught ESL were so happy and blossoming! I was suprised pleasantly and overjoyed to see that: happy young 8 and 10 years old nuns. It uplifts the heart!
