I think this HERE is Jesus paying tribute to his poor parents who watched him die. To me, such a fucked up UNFAIR mob killing is due to blidd all along with family and mental health. So strong foundation with Joseph and Mary, though they are less realzied than jesus and always will be. 

Another thing I like from this version, is that Jesus chooses to save his friends. Not his family. Not his romantic lover. his friends.  And it is true, that this is the most selfless death we can have. dying for our romantic pure love is easy. Dying for a bunch of friends is way the fuck less inspiring to me.
