I certainly dont know.
I would tend to think simply straight up rebirth.
I dont know that there is a state where we are not reborn and thrive and get teachings anyway?
What the buddhists call the bardo...
I have high hope that we will bump into our favourite people and pets again in the future of all our rebirths. I sure wish for it and hope deeply for that.
