Hi everyone,

I just wrote a short story mixing up Ojibway worldview names (Manitou) with science fiction, tummo (inner fire), the dawn of humanity and homelessness in Toronto. I wrote it in about 5-6 hours tonight, 11 pages. I sent it to a native prof friend we know to ask her what her opinion was on this particular story. If she sees nothing to complain or remark about, I will submit it to a fiction magazine in Vancouver or Toronto.

Here is the last page of this short story written tonight (it is now almost 4:00am on saturday). The title is Basil on the street. Notice the bibliography which refers to Basil Johnston, an Oijibway scholar from Ontario. This is where I got the name for the character in this short story, since Basil Johnston is my reference to learn a bit about the Ojibway Manitous. I was going to send him this short story for the hoot, but was so disapointed when I learned he had passed in 2015. He has written 15 books in english and 5 in ojibway.

I have not submitted to journals for about six years. I recently submitted la planete Yland (Livre I) to the prestigious magazine SOLARIS in quebec. I suspect they will reject the work. I just got a subscription to read with me now.
