I decided against going to buy vodka and opened the st germain bottle under BJG's advice instead. St Germain is elderberry liquor, 20%, and tastes EXACTLY like ice wine at a third of the cost. We also have two sparkling white wine bottles (one super cheap bottle from australia and one nicer one from NZ). 

BJG is playing with the records and found one of my old purchase so great: Bérurier noir, a french punk band from the late 80s. He plyaes The chills, The verlaines and sneaky feelings, all new zealand 80s bands. Now it is Red Hot chili peppers.
