Apart from a few masters like Nagarjuna and Shantideva and contemporary weirdos like Pema chodron (i dont like her) and chogyam trungpa and the 14th comments on The heart sutras, i have read very little buddhism. But I tried the Lam rim chen mo (I read excerpts and a wole concise english translted blue book I don know by whose commentaries, excellent.).
The gradual stages to the path (Middle way technical and dry as fuck text) by I forget who (*Tsongkhapa)....I read also all nun biographies from tibet I could find. First intro to tibet: alexandra Neel at 9 years old, a period that saw me read all the time and whatever I chose.
