Human rights advocates in BC claim the province will just change the words and wordings use in the mental health act but nothing will improve on the ground.
The mental health act seems to not respect a vital principle; the ONLY reason to keep involuntary patients is if they are a threat to themselves or anyone else dur to their illness. Nobody respects that in BC in the law and the mental health act is used massively without any justification nor human rights respect for dubious arrest. I was handcuffed the three times i wanted to get to an ambulance to the hsopital, though i was totally not violent nor resisting. The mental health act is ompletely nuts in BC, THE worst province i know and the only one so bad.
