You will have many ways to realize the conditions coming may be quite hellish and tough. Always always be kind to yourself unless you feel hatred against others. If you feel hatred against others, repent, right away. Beg God for mercy of the enlightnment kind and ask Buddha or Jesus to accompany you forever especially until you die so you can learn and gain merit just the right way with what is your kamma left.

In hell, exaltation is possible and without drugs whatsoever. Stavation is a prayer and a skill of meditating. Read Milarepa songs when you are hungry. And make tea with lemon or green leaves if you can. Milarepa went stark raving mad and starved almost to death. Yet he is a much  very beloved saint of Tibet. Perfect for identification with what is to come and to call on as a Friend. He has seen starvation the best.
